Bhaurao played an important role in educating backward castes and low income people by coining the philosophy earn and learn. The people of Maharashtra honoured him with the sobriquet Karmaveer (King of actions) and the Government of India awarded him with Padma Bhushan in 1959.

The head quarter of 'Rayat Shikshan Sanstha' is at Satara with 689 branches through out state and more than 4.42 lacks students taking education in several branches.

Jalgaon has become a major centre of higher education. Many meritorious students, due to their weak financial position, are deprived of higher education, thus amounting to a global and national loss of talent.

Inspired by Karmveer Bhaurao Patil’s work, Dr. S.S. Rane Sir and a group of teachers, decided to undertake and venture at Jalgaon to help the poor and needy students. This led to the beginning of a new institution known as ‘Vidyarthi Sahayak samiti, Jalgaon.’

Initially 5 students were selected and offered help. They did show good progress in their academics, encouraged by this success more students were offered accommodation and other help. And the project which is based on self-help and self-discipline grew like a banyan tree.

Of course, this was not possible without help of generous people belonging to all sections of society. The project received a boost when Jalgaon Municipality allotted in the name of Samiti about 55,000 Sq. ft. area in the Survey No. 148 on it was proposed to contract a structure of 15000 Sq. ft. of  which 8500 Sq. ft. construction has already been completed for boys. The remaining 6500 Sq. ft. structure is proposed for girls which needs fund. Read More about Samiti......
